When it comes to adopting a cat, most people picture playful kittens - but there's a deeply overlooked treasure in the world of pet adoption: senior cats. At Let’s Be S.M.A.R.T., we care for dozens of rescued cats, and among them are older souls with gentle hearts and incredible resilience. These cats may have a few grey whiskers, but they have so much love left to give.
In this blog post, we want to show you why adopting a senior cat could be one of the most rewarding choices you’ll ever make. Plus, we’ll introduce you to some of our beautiful seniors who are currently waiting to meet their forever families.
Why Adopting a Senior Cat is So Special
(And yes - it’s amazing for you, too)
✅ Calm Companionship: Most senior cats are already past their high-energy kitten days. They enjoy lounging, gentle affection, and quiet routines.
✅ What You See Is What You Get: Their personalities are already developed, so it’s easier to find a cat that truly fits your lifestyle.
✅ Gratitude That Shines: Senior rescue cats often show deep appreciation for love and comfort - they know what it means to be saved.
✅ Litter Trained & Socialized: All of our cats are fully litter - trained, socialized, and ready to integrate into loving homes, making the transition easier for you.
Meet Our Wonderful Senior Cats Available for Adoption. Here at Let’s Be S.M.A.R.T., we’re lucky to care for these remarkable souls - each one with a story of survival and strength. Could one of them be your perfect match?
Handsome (Born 2015)
A true sweetheart with the softest gaze, Handsome came to us in critical condition but has transformed into one of the most loving companions. He’s calm, gentle, and loves cuddles. Handsome is on a renal diet due to a chronic kidney condition and is FIV positive, but he’s thriving and full of affection. What he needs most is a warm home to call his own.
Tsitsika (Born 2014)
Graceful and serene, Tsitsika lost her lifelong home when her person moved into care. She's a sensitive soul who thrives in quiet environments and opens up beautifully to those who earn her trust. She prefers being the only cat and is currently on a hepatic diet to support her health.
Nini (Born 2007)
Nini might be in her senior years, but you’d never know it from her vibrant personality. Sociable, confident, and always up for a head rub, Nini is the type to greet you at the door. She’s also on a special diet to keep her liver healthy and is seeking a loving home that appreciates her big heart.
Smut (Born 2014)
Once a longtime stray near Zappeio, Smut faced danger and instability until we took him in. He’s shy but deeply affectionate when he trusts you, and his ideal life includes a quiet home and soft laps. Smut is on a hepatic diet to maintain his well-being and is blossoming under care.
Reba (Born 2013)
Reba, a long-haired beauty, was rescued from the bustling port of Piraeus. After years of hardship, she’s learning to trust again. She’s shy at first, but with time, she reveals her warm and gentle nature. Reba follows a thyroid-support diet to manage her hyperthyroidism and continues to grow more confident every day.
Braille (Born 2010)
Braille lost her sight after more than a decade of street life near the Acropolis, but her spirit is bright. She prefers peaceful surroundings and quiet companionship, and she’s looking for someone who can offer her the calm and security she deserves.
Aliki (Born 2015)
After surviving a car accident in Varkiza, Aliki made an incredible recovery. She’s independent and affectionate when she feels safe. Due to her injuries, she needs help with bladder expression and thrives on a gastro-supportive diet. She’s looking for a special person to understand and love her as she is.
Puppet (Born 2017)
Puppet is a tender, affectionate senior who’s endured hardship but never stopped loving. She was rescued in rough shape, but today she’s blooming, eager for cuddles, and full of gratitude. Her warmth touches everyone who meets her.
