Let’s be S.M.A.R.T. covers the costs of all its activities in Greece - including the operation of its sanctuary in the Attica region - primarily through internally raised funds and relies on the generosity of donations to continue its mission.

The annual operating budget of our cat sanctuary, which currently provides care for more than 100 cats and 8 dogs, is substantial and is fully funded through private contributions. In addition to healthy animals, we also care for many special-needs cats - including paralyzed cats, cats with chronic or complex medical conditions, and senior or retired cats who require lifelong support. Their ongoing medical treatment, specialized nutrition, therapies, and daily care significantly increase our operational costs.

Our monthly budget amounts to approximately €33,300, covering the operation of our two locations (our main shelter and a smaller foster home), the continuous running of our rescue activities, food supplies, and substantial ongoing veterinary expenses. This budget also includes animal care supplies (litter, blankets, cat and dog houses and beds, toys, etc.), household supplies (cleaning products, appliances, garden maintenance, house repairs, protective netting, etc.), food and accommodation for our volunteers and interns, fuel and maintenance for our shelter vehicle, utility bills, staff salaries, fire extinguishers and other shelter safety equipment, repairs and other essential operational costs.

Our S.M.A.R.T. Sterilization Program, as well as all educational, community projects, and events, are also supported entirely by privately raised funds.​​​​
