Gilbert (04/2025), Male
Hi, I'm Gilbert
I almost didn't make it here. I was found on a street in central Athens in July 2025 — nearly hit by a car, very small, very young. I was born in April 2025, so I was only a few months old at the time. Somebody saw me and made sure I got somewhere safe, and I've been at the shelter since July 30th. I think about that a lot. Actually no I don't — I'm extremely chill and I've moved on entirely.

Health update: I'm doing great. Neutered, microchipped, vaccinated with and negative for absolutely everything they tested me for. No conditions, no medications, nothing. Just a healthy, sorted young cat ready for the next thing.

Here's what you should know about me: I love people, and I show it. I purr, I head-butt, I make biscuits, and when I'm really happy I flop onto my back and offer you my belly — and I mean it. You can actually rub my belly. I know. I'm aware that's unusual. Feel free to take advantage of this.

I don't meow. I genuinely haven't done it, not once that anyone has heard. I find that actions speak louder than words, and my action of choice is climbing onto you and purring.

My mornings are my liveliest time, but honestly my general mode is relaxed. I like napping in the middle of beds, tucking into cozy cabinets, playing with stuffed mice and balls, and hanging out with the other cats when I feel social. I'm fine with other cats — the situation with my roommate Louis is complicated and entirely his doing, for the record.

I'd be happy in a home with other cats or as an only cat. I'm fine with children. I seek out affection but I'm not demanding about it — I'll find you when I want you, and when I do, I'll just quietly install myself nearby and start purring.

I nearly got hit by a car in Athens. Now I'm looking for a sofa. I think that's a reasonable upgrade.
