Gin (04/2025), Male

Hi, I'm Gin. I was found outside a pharmacy in Kalyvia in a very bad way. There was blood in my urine. The people who found me think I was poisoned, and the evidence suggests they are right. I was taken to the vet, treated, and when I was stable enough, I came to the shelter on April 9th, 2026.

I should tell you something else: I am blind. My eyes are there — they look completely normal from the outside — but I cannot see. This is almost certainly a consequence of what was done to me. I want to be upfront about it because it matters, and because I think you deserve to know exactly who you are considering bringing home.

Here is what else you should know: I am completely fine. Not fine in a brave-face way. Actually fine. I navigate by sound and scent, I turn toward people when they enter the room and I go to investigate them, and I do all of this with the confidence of a cat who has decided the world is navigable and interesting and worth exploring.

My blindness is part of me. It does not define what I am capable of giving.

I am negative for FeLV, FIV, and FIP. I have had all my vaccinations and was neutered in May 2026. No ongoing medications, no special needs, no dietary restrictions. I eat anything. I do have strong feelings about Churus treats and I will not apologise for that.

My personality, according to the people who know me best, is that I am simply a wonderful cat. I love being petted around my head, I give head butts and rubs and purrs in return, I enjoy plushie toys, sunny spots, naps on beds, and the company of people who like me — which, so far, has been everyone. I am mostly quiet, I am not aggressive, and the only time I resist anything is during medical care, and even then I just try to leave rather than fight about it.

I am comfortable with other cats and do not need to be the only one. For children, older ones who know how to move calmly around a cat — especially one who cannot see sudden movements coming — would be the right fit.

I was poisoned and left outside a pharmacy. I am still here. I still walk toward strangers when they come in. I still trust. If you have a sunny spot and a lap and a packet of Churus, I think we will get along very well.
