Hi, I'm Joker. I should tell you upfront: I only have one eye. I lost the other one somewhere along the way, before I came here, and it had to be surgically removed when I arrived. I don't know exactly what happened. I have moved on. The important thing is that I can see you just fine, and what I see, I am cautiously optimistic about.

I was found as a stray in Voula and came to the shelter on May 13th, 2026. I was born around March 2024, so I am a young adult cat, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and negative for everything they tested me for. No conditions, no medications, nothing. Just a cat with one eye and a lot of love to give to the right person.

Here is how I work: I am shy at first. Loud noises startle me. Sudden movements make me jump. I need a moment — or several moments — to decide that you are safe. I explore new places carefully and on my own timeline. I am not the cat who will immediately run up to you and demand attention. But I want you to understand what happens when I do decide you are safe, because it is worth knowing.

When I trust you, I will walk slow circles around you while I purr. I will rub my whole body against you. I will head butt you with genuine feeling. I will climb onto your lap and stay there, completely still and completely content, for as long as you will let me. I chirp when I want pets and when I am happy — small, soft sounds that I give only when I mean them. I also give love bites, which are affectionate and real, though I admit they can sometimes be quite firm. This is something to be aware of with younger children.

Other cats: I tolerate them. I do not love them. If I am getting human attention and another cat comes close, I will make my feelings known — a slap, a growl, a very clear message. I would genuinely prefer to be someone's only cat, with their full attention, which I promise to return in full.

I love wand toys, sunny spots, cozy cubbies to sleep in, and laps. Mostly laps. Avoid scratching me at the base of my tail and keep things calm around me, and I will be the most devoted, purring, one-eyed lap companion you have ever had.

I came off the streets missing an eye. I am still here, still warm, still choosing to trust. That has to count for something.
