Our first 2023 S.M.A.R.T. award goes to Psarakia & Thalassina in Varkiza. The owners of this cozy fish restaurant are super animal friendly. They have a mom cat with her two kittens inside and they are taking care of them. The kiitens are nursing so they have a box inside the restaurant available for them. Once the kittens grow up a bit, they will get adopted by the restaurant staff. Great example of an animal friendly business!! 😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. award for October 2022 is the Naeniam clothing store in Glyfada! Naeniam opened a few years back and the owners Marieta and Anastasia are two friends who decided to make the big step and create a business on their own. They are very pet friendly people, they are both caring for strays by feeding, sterilising and if you pass by their shop you will also see a bowl with fresh water for the strays. Marieta has a rescue cat of her own. They supported us last May at our Gala in Varkiza by donating gift cards we used as ruffle prices as well. 😻🏆🥇
Konstantios - taxi driver

Our S.M.A.R.T. award for September 2022 is a different one! We decided to award Konstantinos who is a taxi driver. He has been helping our organization with regular taxi rides for our volunteers, our vet interns and our vet visits when needed. Apart from helping our organization, Konstantinos is also contributing towards the stray population in the area of Kalyvia where he feeds, medically cares for and sterilizes stray cats in need! 😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. award for August 2022 goes to Petr Shop Kalyvia. They support our mission in Greece with a special prices and donations when possible! Their shop sells dry & wet pet food, per carriers, beds, cat scratching posts and many more! The Owner, Christos Antonopoulos, is a lovely person! He always cares for his customers and we are truly happy to award his shop and provide him with some goodies, such as our handmade facemasks, flyers, Brit Care cat food for the strays to feed strays living around his shop and our S.M.A.R.T. Business Award of course! 😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. award for June 2022 goes to Zoomania in Kalyvia. The pet shop Zoomania exists since 2004 and the team includes six employees, all very sweet and helpful. The shop sells wet and dry pet food, accessories such as collars, leashes, beds, carriers and all kind of grooming products. They were taking care of a friendly and lovely cat that used to live outside the shop until one of the employees decided to adopt her and giver her a forever home!! Our Let's be S.M.A.R.T. charity have its donation box in the shop as well as masks for sale! We are very grateful to have not only a reliable shop to purchase for our rescue shelter, but also a great partner supporting our animal welfare and fundraising efforts. 😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. award for May 2022 goes to Sabine from Varkiza, who lives across our Let's be S.M.A.R.T. foster home. Sabine and her husband have two cats living with them in their house and they are also taking care of two strays - Rhino and Koutsi - living outdoors. They agreed to have one of our S.M.A.R.T. Yard feeding stations installed in their garden. They feed and medically care for their outdoor kitties with a great love and care. 😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. award for April 2022 goes to Mrs. Vivi Pikouni from Varkiza! This monthly award is different than the others. Instead of awarding a pet friendly business we decided to give the award for April to mrs Vivi Pikouni a lady in Varkiza who feeds 70 cats daily and has sterilised over 100 cats around Varkiza. She stocks up her car with dry and wet food and drives around making the stray kitties happy! Her help towards the stray overpopulation in Varkiza is huge!! She is always around feeding or trying to catch a cat to take to the vets to sterilise so we decided to give the award with a bracelet, our flyers, some brit wet food packages and a mask to show her how much we appreciate her efforts to make Varkiza an even better place for the strays. We hope we have the chance to meet more people like her around our area😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. award for March 2022 goes to the print shop Fotocopy in Vari! The company has been in business for 40 years. They have branches in Vari, Glyfada, Koropi, Nea Smirni, Faliro and Pireus and their team of staff includes 45 people. Our Let's be S.M.A.R.T. organization collaborates with their shop in Vari, which was awarded with the 2020 Beautiful Company award and ended up in 1st place for their favorable prices, great assistance and services to their customers. The staff of the Fotocopy Vari shop is very friendly, always helpful and deliver a great job when it comes to printing our promotion posters, leaflets, medical booklets, cards, banners, stickers, calendars and other material. They support our charity not only with a professional job but also with favorable prices. We are lucky to have this reliable S.M.A.R.T. Business supporting our mission! 😻🏆🥇

We are happy to announce our S.M.A.R.T. award for February 2022, which goes to the "Lefko" Fabric Store in Vari! The store exists from 2008 and it is a family run business. They sew curtains, make duvets, sofa and bed covers, towels, blankets, carpets, headboards, wallpapers. They also have a custom made production of blinds, rollers, wooden blinds etc. In general anything you can imagine! The owners and their staff are very friendly, polite and amazing people who has been supporting our Let's be S.M.A.R.T. charity. They have donated tons of fabric pieces to us, so we can make various products for our ETSY charity shop. They are still donating fabric pieces and they are very happy that they can help to our cause! We are proud and lucky to have this amazing S.M.A.R.T. Business on board! 😻🏆🥇
Our first 2022 S.M.A.R.T. award goes to one of the local pharmacies in Varkiza owned by Sartzetaki Antonia. She always helps us out and orders medicine for our kitties. She has also recently agreed to put a donation box for us in her pharmacy. The owner has a rescue pet of her own which makes us very happy. This pharmacy has existed for 25 years and is run by a very strong team of knowledgeable people with experience always willing to help and assist! 😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. Business award for the month of December goes to the Leonidas Chocolate Cafe in Varkiza. They sell coffee, hot chocolate and are specialised in chocolates. They have a cat named Sasa she is 8-9 months old and the owners love her! She has her own bed inside the place and sleeps there at night! The pharmacy exists 5 years and the owner - Afroditi Nikopoulou - feeds and take care of stray cats in the area. She is very sweet and humble person who supports our Let's be S.M.A.R.T. charity by offering a better prices. She very much appreciates our organization for helping so many cats in the area within our stray programs. Our S.M.A.R.T. Business award for the month of October goes to O Xristoforos taverna in Kalyvia. They exist almost 53 years and they have many options of authentic Greek traditional food. They are known for their big portions! Despite being a meat taverna, they do their best to satisfy vegetarians and vegans and they are always happy to serve you. They feed around 40 cats! This is what happened recently: three ladies came in to eat in the taverna and they were bothered by the cats that roam around the taverna but the staff did a right thing - they asked the ladies to leave the place!! Most of their staff own pets as well and they are very compassionate and animal friendly. They were very happy to receive our award, gift bag and cat food to feed local strays 😻🏆🥇

Our S.M.A.R.T. Business award for the month of September goes to Apollonia Hotel in Varkiza where we found our adorable little Apollo.
Not only were the staff incredibly helpful with rescuing him, they have also accommodated our volunteers and cats in need of isolation when we have no space at the shelter. We have awarded them our SMART business award for the month of September to recognise their work. Their team also received from us a gift bag with our handmade facemasks, Let's be S.M.A.R.T. kitty mug and supplies of cat food for local strays 😻🏆🥇

They open at 10am in the morning and close at 10pm. The Printing Store exists in Varkiza for 6 years now. Our rescued kitties Inka and Chapstick were found in their premises. The owner is always friendly and very helpful and they give our animal welfare charity good prices as well. The Printing Store makes prints for t-shirts, hats, bags, backpacks, towels, marbles, mugs, key chains and it is a popular local business. They were very happy to receive our S.M.A.R.T. business award certificate, our handmade masks, mugs, goodies and Brit pouches for the strays they are feeding.

Our smart business award for this month goes to Esplanade an open kitchen bar in Varkiza with food, cocktails and coffees! 😻🏆🥇
They open at 7am in the morning and close at 2:00-3:00pm. All the staff members are very friendly and kind and they were happy to receive our S.M.A.R.T. business award certificate, our handmade masks, mugs, goodies and Brit pouches for the strays they are feeding.
Everyone who works here is great with the local strays. They have put two bowls with food and water outside for the strays to drink and eat. In the past the owners of this restaurant called us and that’s how we came to rescue Sissy and Luna many months back.
Taxi drivers

We are honored to present our 6th Varkiza SMART business award for the month of June 2021 to the taxi drivers from the main square in Varkiza for leading by example for helping and caring for our resident stray dogs and cats 😻🏆🥇
The taxi drivers are very friendly towards the local stray dogs and cats that live in the area they have their taxi station. Most of the taxi drivers are pet owners themselves and we so much appreciate their compassion and love for animals. They were very happy to receive our S.M.A.R.T. business award certificate, our handmade masks, mugs, goodies and Brit pouches for the strays they are feeding. The three men in the photo are proud pet parents of one cat, one dog and two dogs.
Mini Market

We are honored to present our 5th Varkiza SMART business award for the month of May 2021 to Mini Market in Varkiza for leading by example in helping and caring for our local stray cats 😻🏆🥇
The owners of the Mini Market previously operated a kiosk in the Varkiza main square for more than 40 years, but due to their moving they rented the space and turned it into a Mini Market. They are a very animal friendly business and they agreed for us to install our SMART Yard next to their mini market for the local stray cats to have a safe place to eat and sleep. They were taking care of stray cat Sally and her babies Popcorn, Skittles, Pringles and Marshmallow who were eventually accepted to our rescue shelter (mom and all kittens were adopted abroad). They are feeding stray cats on a daily basis and became a great example for community involvement. The owners of Mini Market were presented with a SMART gift bag, a large bag of BRIT cat food to feed the strays and our SMART award certificate which is displayed at their storefront. We love this local business for their kindness and compassion with animals and we are grateful for their support of our work and being a guardian angels for the local strays.

Savalas Café has been operating in Varkiza for more than 40 years, it is an iconic location for the locals and tourists! The business is owned by Ioannis and they have an amazing team of 8 employees which are always helpful and animal loving. They take care of 4 local stray cats that live behind the café on daily basis and all 4 kitties are sterilized. Ioannis agreed for us to install our SMART yard on their premises for the stray cats to have a safe place to eat and sleep. Ioannis also cares for another stray cat at his residence yard and arranged for the sterilization. Ioannis also has an animal loving daughter who is happy for the kitties to be around her home and her daddy’s business!
We presented Savalas with a SMART gift bag and our SMART award certificate which is displayed at their storefront. We are grateful to Savalas Café for their support of our work as well as for their loving care of local strays. They are certainly an example to follow!

Mike, the owner, opened his WeLovePets store in October 2016. The shop sells dry and wet pet food, accessories, toys, beds, clothes, litter ..... everything you can think off! Mike also offers grooming services by appointment. You will always meet three cats living in Mike´s store! Being an avid animal lover and owner of two dogs, Ruby and Abbath, Mike is actively involved in the local animal welfare community. He is feeding local strays and also helps with their sterilizations. WeLovePets is one of our Let´s be S.M.A.R.T. collaborators and suppliers for our shelter and foster home. We are also very grateful for Mike´s continuous support as a donor and sponsor of our events. Mike received a SMART gift bag and our SMART award certificate which is now displayed at his storefront.
