Papillon (02/2020), Male
Hi, I'm Papillon.
I'll be honest with you — I don't give my trust away immediately. I've learned that the world can change on you without warning, so I like to take a moment when I meet someone new. I'll let you come close. I'll watch you. I'll form my own opinion. I just need a little time.
Here's what happened to me: my owners died, and the people who were supposed to look after me left me in an abandoned dog shelter and came back every two weeks with food. I lived like that for a while. I'm not going to pretend that was easy. But I'm here now, and I'm okay — I arrived at the shelter in February 2026, and I've been getting my bearings ever since.
Health-wise, I'm in great shape. I was neutered back in 2021, I'm microchipped and vaccinated, and I've tested negative for everything they checked me for. No conditions, no medications, no special needs. Just a cat rebuilding his confidence.
Once I decide I like you — and I will decide, eventually — I become a completely different cat. I talk. A lot. I'll tell you when I want pets, I'll greet you when you walk in, I'll have full conversations if you're patient enough to listen. I purr, I head-butt, I rub — the whole package. And yes, you can pet my belly. I know that's rare. You're welcome.
My ideal day involves finding a high, cozy spot to nap in, coming down when I feel like it for some quality time with my person, and generally existing at a very peaceful, unhurried pace. I'm not a toy cat. I'm a companion cat.
I get along with other cats without any drama, and I think I'd be fine with children who know how to be gentle. I'm flexible — solo home or multi-cat household, I can work with either.
What I'm really looking for is someone patient. Someone who won't take it personally if I need a few days to warm up. Because once I do, I promise — I'm worth the wait.
