Hi, I'm Joey. When I first arrived I was pretty scared. I'd been found on the side of a road in Fthiotida, some of my siblings didn't make it, my mum ran off, and suddenly I was somewhere completely new. I stayed close to Chandler and waited to see what happened next.

What happened next was: people were kind. And it turns out I am very, very good at responding to kindness. I went from cautious to confident faster than anyone expected, and now I run to greet everyone who walks in. I do belly flops for strangers. I have grown into myself and I am not done yet.

 

Medical update: both multiple vaccinations done, Rabies on June 26th, negative on all fecal tests across two rounds including late June. Perfect health, no conditions, no medications. I eat my puppy kibble and I'm not yet neutered, but that's coming.

 

Here is what I am: active, enthusiastic, and loud about it. I bark — for food, to go out, to play, and sometimes just as a general announcement that I exist and I am happy about it. I have boundless energy right up until the moment I have absolutely no energy, and those transitions happen without warning. I am already good at fetch. I love to run and play hard. I will chew anything — toys, branches, your trousers, whatever presents itself — and I treat the floor as a perfectly acceptable sleeping surface, which it is. I love belly rubs more than almost anything, and I will show you my belly to make sure you understand this.

 

A few honest things my future home should know: I am not leash trained yet and I freeze in unfamiliar places when on a lead — this needs patient, consistent work. Car rides are stressful for me right now and I may go quiet or have an accident, so that needs to be introduced very slowly and carefully. I haven't met children formally, but I am big, excited, jumpy, and have no concept of personal space — I can and will knock a smaller child over purely out of joy, so older or bigger children are the better fit.

I love other dogs. Chandler is my whole world, and I have also played brilliantly with Buddy and Napoleon at the shelter — I am not just a one-brother dog, I genuinely love canine company. I'd love to grow up with a companion. The right active home could also give me everything I need.

I was found on a roadside with nothing. I am now belly up, tail going, barking about it. I won't let you down.
