At Let’s Be S.M.A.R.T., we believe education is the foundation of lasting change. Rescuing animals is vital - but teaching future generations how to care for and respect them ensures a better future for all living beings.
Every day in Greece, countless cats and dogs suffer due to neglect, abandonment, and lack of understanding about animal welfare. That’s why education is at the heart of everything we do. From interactive school visits to educational programs at our sanctuary - and even outreach in refugee camps - we work hard to create a culture of compassion and responsibility.
Why Education is So Important
Prevention is better than rescue: Teaching empathy and proper care reduces future cases of abuse and abandonment.
Building lifelong values: When children learn kindness early, it shapes their choices as pet owners and citizens.
Empowering communities: Education spreads awareness, inspiring collective action for stray animals.
The SMART Family Video Series
To make animal welfare education accessible to everyone, we launched the SMART Family Video Series - fun, engaging videos that teach children and families about:
✔ How to care for cats and dogs
✔ Why spaying/neutering is important
✔ How to treat animals with love and respect
…and many other important topics!
We’ve created 9 educational videos, most in Greek and English, and some translated into Arabic for our outreach in refugee camps. These resources allow us to share knowledge and compassion with communities that need it most.

We regularly host school visits and private children’s events at our shelter. These interactive experiences give kids the chance to:

We also visit refugee camps, showing our videos and engaging in discussions about animal care, empathy, and responsibility - because every child deserves to learn compassion, no matter where they are.
