Thinking about adopting a cat? At Let’s Be S.M.A.R.T., we know the process can feel overwhelming - so we’ve answered the most frequently asked questions to make adoption easy and stress - free.

1. How do I choose the right pet for my lifestyle?

We list all our adoptable cats on our website, complete with personality details to help you get a sense of who might be a good fit. But we don’t stop there! We’re always available to discuss and guide you through making the best choice for both you and the cat.

Our website has an amazing tool called KittyPicker, where you answer a few quick questions, and it suggests the perfect cat for your lifestyle.

2. What is included in the adoption fee?

We only ask for a 90€ adoption fee, which covers:

✔ All necessary paperwork and passport

✔ Complete vetting, including:

Full vaccinations

Spay/neuter surgery

Deworming & defleaing

Fecal testing

Screening for common diseases

Travel carrier or crate.

Your cat will be healthy, socialized, and ready to travel when you are.

3. How long does the adoption process take?

Once you fill out the adoption application, we contact you immediately to discuss details. After approval and signing the adoption contract, we prepare your cat’s documents and organize the trip. The process is quick and stress-free!

4. What are the adoption requirements?

We take the well-being of our cats seriously, so our adoption application includes questions to understand your lifestyle and household setup. We also conduct a brief interview to ensure your home is suitable and that the cat you choose is truly the right fit.

5. Can I adopt internationally?

Absolutely! We arrange adoptions all around the world and handle everything - from documents to flight arrangements - so your experience is smooth.

6. Do you allow trial adoptions?

We don’t recommend trial adoptions because changing environments can cause stress for cats, especially shy ones. Our careful application and interview process ensures the right match from the start. If something unexpected happens, we always welcome our cats back and work to find them another loving home - but this is extremely rare.

7. How do you choose the best match for me?

Through open discussion, we consider your personality, lifestyle, and environment. We want the adoption to be a perfect fit for both you and the cat.

8. Do pets with medical or behavioral special needs get adopted?

Yes! Some adopters choose healthy cats, while others open their hearts to cats with special needs. Blind cats adapt faster than most people think, and shy cats bloom beautifully with patience. Even paralyzed cats can thrive with the right care. We guide you every step of the way.

9. What support do adopters receive after adoption?

We’re always just a message away for advice or guidance. Plus, your cat comes with:
