Step 1: Choose Your Volunteer Role

Fill out our animal shelter volunteer application on our website. We'll match you with opportunities that fit your schedule, skills, and interests:
Step 3: Online chat with our shelter team
Every volunteer has an online chat with our shelter team before being approved. This is the best way for both sides to see if it’s a good fit and if expectations align. Volunteers are given a virtual tour of our shelter, meet our cats, and receive detailed information about tasks, shifts, and responsibilities. They can always ask questions—our team will be happy to answer.
Once you arrive at our shelter, you will learn about animal rescue volunteer best practices, safety protocols, and how to provide the best possible care for our cats and dogs.

Volunteer Requirements: Who Can Volunteer at Animal Shelters?
Animal rescue volunteer requirements at LBS include:
Must be 16+ years old (or accompanied by parent/guardian)
At least some previous experience in cat care (as a pet guardian, volunteering in animal shelters, etc.) is required. Dog care experience is always welcome as well.
Genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare
Ability to follow safety and care protocols
Reliable and responsible
Physical ability to handle tasks like cleaning, lifting, and animal handling (accommodations available)
We provide full training for all new animal shelter volunteers.
