Our sanctuary has been saving animals in Greece since 2011 and it is situated in the Attika region.
We have given our cats a large spacious house just for themselves with outdoor netted space, cat trees, toys, lots of room upstairs and downstairs, a kitty litter room and lots and lots of love.
Our special and adorable kitties will live well in the sanctuary until they can find their permanent home with someone loving.
Each one of our babies are very friendly and well behaved. They have been medically cared for and brought to health, and they are seen regularly by our local vet that visits on site. Each cat has his/her own medical record book and is microchipped. The cats are clean, sterilized and well socialized and are ready to integrate easily into a private home. They are used to living only indoors.

In Memory of Our Beloved Cats Who Passed Away
STAR GONE MISSING SINCE MARCH 2019
Star came to our sanctuary with his 2 sisters. He was taken care of by an expat woman who had to give the kitties unfortunately away. Star was living in the garden of our sanctuary with his two siblings as they all were born with a neurological problem and their limbs were shaking. Unfortunately, Star managed to escape from the garden in March 2019 and since then he was missing.
CLOUDY PASSED AWAY ON AUGUST 16, 2018
Cloudy got into our sanctuary with her mom and other 4 siblings in the beginning of 2018. The kitties were take care of by local expat lady who had to give them away. Cloudy came to our sanctuary with severe eye infection, his eyes were eventually healed by they were a bit funny looking. Cloudy started to have a breathing problems and was brought to the hospital where she had a surgery and liquid was taken out of her lungs. After the surgery she started to be better but on the second day her condition started to dramatically worsen and she died in the hospital. Little Cloudy will be remembered and missed.
DINA PASSED AWAY ON APRIL 3, 2019
RIP to our sweet Dina who sadly jumped up to a cracked window and got stuck (that should have been closed). We are very traumatized by this sad event. In tribute to Dina, we are sharing a photo of her mom with Dina and her two sisters Tina and Gina. We have Tina and Gina living in our sanctuary. Their mom still lives in our Founder's neighborhood, and perhaps one day soon, can come live in our rescue ….
JOCKIE PASSED AWAY ON APRIL 20, 2019
Our sanctuary girl Jockie died suddenly at the vet clinic. She died after only being treated for a small skin infection. We are just devastated and so sad to loose our Jockie. She will be always remembered. Otherwise she was in good health, was vaccinated and was a happy girl.
BUDDY PASSED AWAY ON AUGUST 4, 2018
Buddy had a tough street life. He had his jaw broken and showed up at our building very famished due to not being able to eat. We operated on his jaw and helped him to get back to eating and being strong again. Unfortunately, we had to put Buddy in sleep on Saturday 4.8.2018 as he started to suffer from kidney and liver failure and his condition got worse each day.
We will miss greatly our Buddy and his quirky smile.
SCRUFFY PASSED AWAY ON JULY 22, 2018
Scruffy passed away after being sick for a few days, most probably with a FIP virus. He left us on Sunday July 22, 2018. He was 4 years old, sweet and lovely boy. He will be missed.
VASILIKI DIED IN HER SLEEP ON May 5, 2018
Vasiliki and her mom Grace were living around our apartment building and they were immediately taken into our sanctuary after poisoning of Vasiliki's sister and uncle and where they lived for several years. Vasiliki and Grace were both adopted by a lovely lady abroad in June 2017.
Vasiliki will be very much missed. At least she had a great last part of her life, living with her cat mom Grace in a beautiful home and being taken care of by loving human mom Nelleke.
REBECCA DIED ON April 29, 2018 AFTER SHE RAN OUT FROM THE SHELTER AND WAS HIT BY A CAR
Our beautiful and loving Rebecca was hit by a car and died after running out from our sanctuary. It was very windy and as the sanctuary's entrance vestibule door slammed open, she got scared and ran. Never being out she just bolted and sadly ended up at the road and was immediately hit
We are devasted and are sending our prayers to her in heaven.
CHECKERS PASSED AWAY ON THE CHRISTMAS WEEK OF 2017
Checkers was found in a box at the doorstep of an animal lover. This animal lover could not take in Checkers due to her having two dogs and after seeing Checkers desperate request on facebook, we decided to step in. Once Checkers was examined by our vets, it was determined he is between 10-12 years old. We helped him to heal the blood bacteria and get into a full health.
We found a loving home for Checkers in New York and he was travelling in February 2017 to his forever home. Unfortunately, on the Christmas week of 2017 the family had to euthanize him as he had a renal failure. We are very sad but he got to live the remaining part of his life with such a loving family who cared very much for him.
LITTLE STAR DIED ON NOVEMBER 14 2017
Little Star was one of our recently rescued kittens. He was perfectly healthy but unfortunately he got too curious one day and got stuck in a cracked window while climbing from outside balcony to a closet. He didn't make it and he died within very short period of time.
We are extremely sad, he was such a love bucket beautiful boy. RIP little beauty.
FIRST OF THE CATS IN OUR RESCUE FACILITY CHESTER DIED ON AUGUST 19 2017
From Julie Kelley, Founder of Let's be S.M.A.R.T.
"Chester was the first of my cats in the rescue facility along with his sister and mother. Chester was always a happy go lucky boy that would roll over when you enter the room. He welcomed all the new cats and was always accommodated. My heart is crying for his loss. I asked him to please be my angel and to look down and take care of all the other babies.
RIP my beautiful and loving boy."
OUR HANDICAP CAT MELINOS DIED ON JANUARY 7th 2017 AFTER LIVING HIS NINE LIVES TO THE FULLEST
Melinos was living in our sanctuary for 3 years. He was left with us by his former owner after becoming paralyzed by falling from the 5th floor balcony. He had many health challenges through his years living with us but he always seemed to recover strong and was so willing to live. Despite his disabilities he ruled the house and we called him King Melinos. He loved attention and was extremely affectionate. He even welcomed all our guests at our 2016 Christmas party and became the life of the party.
Sadly a few weeks later, he died of a stroke. He died a happy and spoiled cat, having three wonderful women taking care of him every day. He managed to live all his nine lives to the fullest and he deserves to be remembered as a king he thought he always was.
Watch a beautiful video made in memory of Melinos by our friend Valia Orfanidou
OUR SWEET LITTLE LILO DIED ON FEBRUARY 5tH 2017 IN THE ARMS OF CAREGIVER
Lilo was a little trooper that started to overcome his back leg disabilities. He was playful and loving and sadly he succumbed to a sickness that we have no idea. He died in the arms of our caregiver, warm and comfortable and with lots of love.
